In need of some advice - Young adult

Hi all,
I'm not sure how relevant this post will be to this sub but I think there's a few of you that could share some useful insight with me. I'm currently working a job I'm not satisfied with (pay wise). Some info:

I got this job back in November and I only intended on working there to hold me over until I found a better job. I work as a Pharmacy Assistant (not a career job and I don't even want to be a pharmacist). Since Covid hit job postings have drastically decreased and simultaneously become more competitive as others have lost their jobs. I've been applying to positions daily for months and months now and I still have had no luck. I don't even hear back from 90% of the positions I apply to. To be honest I'm just at a point where I feel hopeless and not sure what else to do anymore.
I'm applying to rather general positions, entry level coordinating type roles (for example supply chain or logistics), essentially anything that requires a degree + basic skills such as Microsoft office proficiency. Also looking at marketing/digital marketing/e-commerce as well since I have some entrepreneurial experience in these areas. I DO NOT have the personality to do anything sales related so please do not recommend that.
Please if any of you have any ideas you'd like to share I am all ears. Feeling very demotivated/frustrated right now :(

Officials arrest 338 worldwide in dark web child porn bust [Resolved]

This may not be tied to a specific mystery or case discussed on this sub, but it goes along with several posts about the FBI's ECAP (Endangered Child Alert Program) (https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/ecap) and other efforts to identify perpetrators, abusers, and locations/items that have been posted here over the years. (I won't link to them, but you can find them by searching for "ECAP" in this sub. Be warned that, while the images on the ECAP website have been censored and not all are of images of perpetrators in child abuse situations, some are still very suggestive and disturbing to view.)
While the subject matter is horrible to think about, some suspects/persons of interest and other adults whose faces appear in pornographic materials with children or associated with such materials have been identified as a result of the ECAP program, so I think it's worth discussing and, for those who are able, reviewing the images to see if any individuals or locations/items look familiar.
I found the process cited in the article below interesting and the arrests and recovery of some children hopeful. I thought some of you might be interested, too.

Officials arrest 338 worldwide in dark web child porn bust

The website relied on the bitcoin cryptocurrency to sell access to videos depicting child sexual abuse.
Law enforcement officials said on Wednesday they had arrested hundreds of people worldwide after knocking out a South Korea-based dark web child pornography site that sold gruesome videos for digital cash.
Officials from the United States, the UK and South Korea described the network as one of the largest child pornography operations they had encountered to date.
Called Welcome To Video, the website relied on the bitcoin cryptocurrency to sell access to 250,000 videos depicting child sexual abuse, authorities said.
Officials have rescued at least 23 underage victims in the US, the UK and Spain who were being actively abused by users of the site, the US Justice Department said. Many children in the videos have not yet been identified.
The site's vast library - nearly half of it consisting of images never seen before by law enforcement - is an illustration of what authorities say is an explosion of sexual abuse content online. In a statement, the UK's National Crime Agency said officials were seeing "increases in severity, scale and complexity".
Welcome To Video's operator, a South Korean named Jong Woo Son, and 337 users in 12 different countries, have been charged so far, authorities said.
Son, currently serving an 18-month sentence in South Korea, was also indicted on federal charges in Washington, DC.
Several other people charged in the case have already been convicted and are serving prison sentences of up to 15 years, according to the US Justice Department.
Welcome To Video is one of the first websites to monetise child pornography using bitcoin, which allows users to hide their identities during financial transactions.
Users were able to redeem the digital currency in return for "points" that they could spend downloading videos or buying all-you-can watch "VIP" accounts. Points could also be earned by uploading fresh child pornography.
"These are the bottom feeders of the criminal world," said Don Fort, chief of criminal investigation at the US Internal Revenue Service, which initiated the investigation.
The US Justice Department said the site collected at least $370,000 worth of bitcoin before it was taken down in March 2018 and that the currency was laundered through three unnamed digital currency exchanges.
Darknet websites are designed to be all-but-impossible to locate online. How authorities managed to locate and bring down the site is not clear, with differing narratives by different law enforcement organisations on the matter.
Fort said the investigation was triggered by a tip to the IRS from a confidential source. However, the UK's National Crime Agency said they came across the site during an investigation into a British academic who in October 2017 pleaded guilty here to blackmailing more than 50 people, including teenagers, into sending him depraved images that he shared online.
In a statement, British authorities said the National Crime Agency's cybercrime unit deployed "specialist capabilities" to identify the server's location. The NCA did not immediately return an email seeking clarification on the term, which is sometimes used as a euphemism for hacking.
The US Justice Department gave a different explanation, saying that Welcome To Video's site was leaking its server's South Korean internet protocol address to the open internet.
Experts pointed to the bust as evidence that the trade in child abuse imagery could be tackled without subverting the encryption that keeps the rest of the internet safe.
Officials in the US and elsewhere have recently started prodding major technology firms here to come up with solutions that could allow law enforcement to bypass the encryption that protects messaging apps such as WhatsApp or iMessage, citing the fight against child pornography as a major reason.
Welcome to Video's demise "is a clear indication that in cases like this, where there's very low-hanging fruit, breaking encryption is not required," said Christopher Parsons, a senior research associate at Citizen Lab, based at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs.
He said the bust showed that law enforcement could also track criminal activity that employs cryptocurrency transactions.
"There's a lot of a people who have this perception that bitcoin is totally anonymous," Parsons said, "and it's been the downfall of many people in many investigations."

P-REP Proposal; ICON, 20% exposure in top crypto event of 2020, reach 100+ universities/corporate partners (BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD), organized by MouseBelt.

Summary:
Event site: https://www.ri2020.io/
Event date: May 18th, 2020
P-PREP Commitment Date: April 30th, 2020
Telegram: u/markusreisner
We believe we have a strong proposition to market ICON in a meaningful way to some of the largest communities in crypto.
The MouseBelt team has the largest global network of over 100+ universities in 20+ countries. Over the last few months, 10+ university blockchain events we were working with got canceled for obvious reasons.
Due to that fact, and our understanding of our reach we decided to launch a virtual conference. Since April 10th here is what happened:
MouseBelt will invest over $70k+ into this event. We would like to have fellow P-Reps invest $20k (this will go 100% to BlockTV production cost).
The benefit to the ICON community will be:
Background:
MouseBelt is a popular blockchain ecosystem consisting of multiple parts:
MouseBelt as ICON developers:
Our engineering team has implemented token assets on ZenSports (SPORTS), the first STO on the ICON network, and GrowYourBase, the #1 IRC2 application token in market capitalization on the ICON network.
Currently, we are developing the Balanced network in concert with ICX_Station, PARROT9, and Iconosphere. Balanced will bring synthetic assets backed by ICX to the ICON network, as well as tokenized staked ICX. This can assist with both a stable asset for payments, and a base for other DeFi applications
MouseBelt as a P-Rep:
We have been a Main P-Rep most of the time since decentralization of the network and so far had utilized our funds for student education.
Such as the “ICON in a box” workshops and the Milwaukee Blockchain Conference, which we sponsored in a direct ICX payment and the second annual payment for UCLA’s blockchain engineering course.
REIMAGINE2020, Conference details:
Conferences have always been an integral part of the blockchain space to promote projects in the industry.
With recent evolutions around the globe, things have changed. They either got canceled or delayed.
We have created REIMAGINE2020, a virtual conference.
Shared by the ICON Foundation on April 18.
We can effectively and efficiently promote ICON to the world through Reiamgine2020 | BlockTV. The driving force behind the conference is: highest quality of Content matched with the best production quality for Video. The funds will allow MouseBelt to promote ICON logo/branding throughout the conference/programming for straight 72 hr of live streaming. Additionally, we have the opportunity to properly place ICON logo/branding in highly favorable on-screen placements (tickers/commercials/plugs and continuous branding) reaching 5M viewers globally. ICX Station is providing a Keynote to drive global interest.
Confirmed partners
Schedule & Format
Production Status
Audience
In addition to the communities of our confirmed partners and universities we are targeting:
1. Viewers - Tuning into the livestream, attending a workshop, or watching the content post-conference.
2. Participants - Speakers, partners, and sponsors
3. As far as hard data for "attendees" we have two signals:

Some have argued that neoconservativism has been influenced by Schmitt Most notably the legal opinions offered by Alberto Gonzales, John Yoo et al. by invoking the unitary executive theory to justify highly controversial policies in the war on terror—such as introducing unlawful combatant status which purportedly would eliminate protection by the Geneva Conventions torture, NSA electronic surveillance program—mimic his writings.Professor David Luban said in 2011 that "[a] Lexis search reveals five law review references to Schmitt between 1980 and 1990; 114 between 1990 and 2000; and 420 since 2000, with almost twice as many in the last five years as the previous five"

Bitcoin-Friendly Countries

Bitcoin-Friendly Countries
Cryptocurrencies are a new asset that appeared only in 2009 with the first decentralized cryptocurrency – Bitcoin. The authorities of most countries haven’t managed yet how to develop its regulation, but there are already those who have introduced a strict prohibition against digital money, and those who have legalized cryptocurrencies in full.
by StealthEX
Today we prepared for you the list of some of the most Bitcoin-Friendly countries, where blockchain technology is closely intertwining with the life of ordinary people.

The United States of America

From the very beginning, the USA has been one of the pioneers of building the crypto-friendly society. Not surprisingly the United States has the largest number of crypto users and the largest number of Bitcoin’s ATMs in the world.
Today a lot of blockchain startups are working in Silicon Valley like BlockCypher, ThunderCore, Blockstream, CipherTrace, Cryptanna, MakerDAO, Coinbase and many others.

Canada

Canada can boast of two cities that are considered as “Bitcoin hubs” Toronto and Vancouver. Cryptocurrency itself is regulated by laws against money laundering and terrorism financing in Canada.
In this country there is a very lively crypto community and many blockchain startups like Decentral, Vanbex Group were launched here. Nowadays thousands of organizations accepting BTC and other cryptocurrencies for payment are located in Canada.

The United Kingdom

The UK is considered one of the world’s leading financial and innovation centers. Therefore, in this country, there are also numerous blockchain-related projects. The United Kingdom is sure that the popularization of a new payment solution is inevitable and now preparing for the massive adoption of cryptocurrencies. Nowadays you can easily order a pint of beer in some local pubs and pay for it using BTC.
Moreover, the Bank of England is closely monitoring cryptocurrency technologies and even asked the public to put forward ideas on how to improve their monetary constitution. Currently, Bitcoin is regarded as “private money”, where VAT is collected in the usual way from suppliers of any goods or services sold.

Netherlands

This country can be proud not only for being Bitcoin-friendly but also for having its own “Bitcoin City” called Arnhem. Here, almost everything can be purchased using crypto coins, including gas, housing, bicycles, and even dental services.
At the legislative level, cryptocurrencies are not yet regulated in accordance with the Dutch Financial Supervision Act, and as a result, numerous blockchain startups and even the Bitcoin Embassy in the center of Amsterdam have occurred.
In addition, the country’s banking sector, including ABN AMRO Bank and ING, is increasingly considering blockchain technology as a way to improve their own system and reduce costs. Netherlands is a regular participant in conferences regarding the development of Bitcoin.

Japan

Many people believe that this is the birthplace of the famous Satoshi Nakamoto – the creator of Bitcoin. The country is the first and only one that has a proper legal system regulating the trade in digital currencies.
Moreover, the authorities of this country are considering launching Japan’s own national cryptocurrency – digital Yen. Today Japan is of the largest cryptocurrency market.

Malta

In February 2018, the Government of Malta decided to support blockchain-related projects, cryptocurrencies, and ICOs. That’s why many companies are considering moving to this paradise blockchain-island. At the same time, Malta is one of the leaders in online gaming and there are many implemented projects that connect blockchain technology with the gaming industry.

Sweden

Sweden is among countries that want to eliminate paper money in favor of 100% digital currency. The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) has legitimized the fast-growing crypto industry by publicly announcing Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) as a means of payment.
Sweden is home to numerous blockchain-based startups, including Safello, Starflow, Norbloc, Strawpay.

Switzerland

Historically, Switzerland has always been famous for the level of its banking system and banking secrecy, so it is not surprising that the authorities of this country didn’t prohibit the circulation of digital currencies.
This country has become a kind of “tax haven” for cryptocurrencies. That’s why many blockchain startups started here and organize the headquarters of their business.

Estonia

This small country is also open to innovative technologies. The government implemented blockchain technology to the healthcare system, banking services and even management, allowing its citizens to be among the first to use municipal and state services via the Internet. With one of the highest levels of Internet penetration in the world, Estonia has a good opportunity to become cryptocurrency capital of Europe.
All the listed countries have demonstrated their hospitality to cryptocurrencies. But of course this is not the comprehensive list and as the crypto community will continue to grow the more countries will be ready to use the advantages of blockchain technology.
We will be delighted to know your thoughts on Bitcoin-friendly countries.

Fascism and Neo-Conservatism
On Dictatorship and The Concept of The Political Carl Schmitt
Note:

We spent the last few months building Lake Trade - A beautiful, ZERO-FEE decentralized trading platform powered by Ethereum and 0x. We'd love the ETH community's feedback!

We spent the last few months building Lake Trade - A beautiful, ZERO-FEE decentralized trading platform powered by Ethereum and 0x. We'd love the ETH community's feedback!
Hey fellow buidlers and hodlers 👋
For the past few months, we've been working around the clock on building a ZERO-FEE decentralized trading platform called Lake Trade, where you can trade directly out of your Ethereum wallet. We're super excited to finally launch it on Reddit!
We've built this on Ethereum and the 0x protocol, and designed it from the ground up to be secure, fast and user-friendly. Building on 0x gives us immediate, shared liquidity with the 0x network, which means you can start trading today and see real volume on our platform.
https://preview.redd.it/2kpo1i7s3ly11.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44d29c1cdef0d6c31c39b2cb7685026e472d7c26

Try Lake Trade now!

http://trade.lakeproject.co

It's not perfect, here's what to expect:

  • Centralized exchanges will have higher liquidity
  • Trade execution is slower but improving (they're getting pretty good!)
  • You will need to pay Ethereum gas fees (significantly less than most exchange fees)
  • We maintain an open order book, we do not match trades directly like centralized exchanges
  • Unfortunately for compliance reasons we currently do not support the US (We're working on this, but it takes time and money)
Now, you might be thinking: "Not another relayer - what's so special about this one?"

Here's what makes Lake Trade great:

  • Zero-Fee Trades - We believe in creating things of value, not paywalls
  • Millions $ in Volume - We have shared liquidity with the 0x network
  • Trade Popular ERC-20 Tokens - DNT, BAT, REP, REQ, OMG and more!
  • User-Friendly & Powerful - We built an intuitive and beautiful platform for trading ERC-20 tokens, with more to come (margin trading, derivatives)
  • Portfolio features - So far we've implemented charts to show the allocation of your balances, with other analytics on our roadmap
  • Trade From Your Wallet - No signups. We support Metamask, with Ledger and Trezor support soon!
  • Real Customer Support - We ACTUALLY have customer support with live chat or email

Lake Trade is one piece of our vision - We're aiming to build Finance 2.0

For the first time in history, we have a technology that enables us to build a globally inclusive, frictionless, and peer-to-peer financial system: one that enables us to trade value directly with each other, all while having full custody of our assets and money.
By harnessing this new technology and building the right tools, we can create markets that are more transparent, inclusive, efficient and user-centric.
To get there, we need to build a decentralized financial stack. As a team, we are determined to be at the forefront of building secure, user-first products that empowers people to preserve their wealth, trade seamlessly, and do commerce globally at low cost.
https://preview.redd.it/7gcde5aw3ly11.jpg?width=1009&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acf4fe99194793c571434ad805131bc13fc7c3b4

To realize this new future, we need to work collaboratively with regulators

As I'm sure everyone's aware by now of EtherDelta's SEC charges. This obviously has implications for the Lake Project and our trading platform.
We believe it's crucial to build a cooperative relationship with regulators, and work together to build meaningful progress and to advance adoption of cryptocurrencies. To do that, we are doing our best to be compliant with securities laws and applicable regulations.
To be compliant, we're taking the following steps:
  1. We have a due diligence process in place to ensure we list only utility tokens. We do not list any security tokens
  2. We have built blacklist capabilities to prevent access to our trading platform for regions where it's illegal to trade the tokens listed on Lake Trade
  3. We've put terms and conditions in place to reflect these regulatory requirements where applicable
  4. We're actively talking to industry experts and legal counsel on best steps forward to be compliant

What's Next? Automatic Investing powered by our A.I.

The often overlooked piece in Finance 2.0 is wealth preservation and growth. We need tools that anyone can take advantage of, at significantly lower costs than traditional investment options today.
With our team's deep expertise in data-science and AI, our next goal is to build an AI-driven investment fund available to anyone, anywhere. We've already made good progress on the AI, and we've begun rigorous back-testing to ensure performance.
We'll be posting more updates on this as we do more comprehensive testing with our AI. If you want to stay connected, please subscribe to our mailing list on our website at http://lakeproject.co

Help us build a next-generation Open Financial System

We're on a mission to build great products that empower people all over the world to make the right economic decisions for their needs. Lake Trade is just the beginning, and we have more ideas we're exploring.
Please leave a comment with your constructive feedback and we'd be happy to work with everyone to fix any issues, build out new useful features, or help tackle other challenges in the crypto-space!
The most important thing that can ensure our success as as startup is more users adopting our products. This allows us to become eligible for grants, apply for funding, raise money, and operate a sustainable business.
Our team is around to help with any questions, and you can chat with us on Discord, or email us at [hello@lakeproject.co](mailto:hello@lakeproject.co).

We're a team of traders, builders, product people and marketers, passionate about solving problems for the new decentralized world. Since the technology and tools exist to solve these problems, we've set out on a path to bring best-in-class, user-centric products to market.
Last year, we put a team together aligned on one vision: that blockchain technology can enable a new paradigm of money, and finance. We believe that decentralized platforms can power the next-generation of financial products and services.
If you want to learn more about our team, our company, and what we're accomplishing, feel free to DM me (Matt) or visit our website to subscribe to our updates: http://lakeproject.co

FAQs About Lake Trade

How do you make money if Lake Trade is feeless?

As traders ourselves, we don't believe in nickle and diming for every trade, all you need is to cover the Ethereum gas fees yourself, and you can trade as much as you want.
We believe that if we can deliver features that have true utility and value to our users, then they'll be willing to pay for those. We have plans to introduce portfolio management tools, and other value-added features down the road.
We also plan to introduce an intelligent AI-driven investment fund that operates on top of Lake Trade you can easily buy into.

How do I know it's secure?

You have full control of your funds, as you're trading directly peer to peer through Lake Trade, by securely connecting your wallet. You never need to hand over your private keys, or entrust any of your money to us.

How do I get started with Lake Trade?

All you need is some ETH in an Ethereum wallet (Metamask), and you're all set. Simply visit http://trade.lakeproject.co to trade.

How come you don't support the US?

With the recent EtherDelta SEC charges, it's clear that the SEC is cracking down and frowning upon decentralized trading platforms who are listing security tokens or operating without proper licenses. Many tokens are deemed securities by the SEC, and under current regulations in the US, it's illegal to grant access to trade securities to US citizens without being a licensed entity with the rights to do so.
We have no intentions to facilitate any illegal activities, and we believe that in order to achieve mass adoption of crypto, it's important to work together with regulators in a collaborative manner, and we understand that it's the role of regulators to step in and protect consumers. Currently, that means we need to comply with existing laws and move forward with registering for the proper licenses.
We look forward to working with regulatory bodies to advance this space forward, and develop new sensible regulations for this disruptive technology and new asset class.

How do I request a feature or report bugs?

Please make a post in our Subreddit here: /LakeProject or chat with us on Discord!

Ethereum's future is bright, the DApps are coming!

The DApps are coming, the DApps are coming!

Chin up boys and girls – the DApps (Decentralized Apps) are finally coming. Utility, not speculation/manipulation/shilling etc., is what, in the end, will give/justify the value of blockchains.

Of the top 100 tokens, 91 of them are on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20). The most valuable non-Ethereum tokens by market cap are USDT (4) and GAS (25). Eventually, ICX (6), VeChain (3) and EOS (1) and several others will be migrating to their own blockchains. Still, this leaves Ethereum with an overwhelming market dominance for tokens (aka DApps) and Ethereum has been clearly recognized as the blockchain to launch ICOs/DApps.

We have already seen several DApps successfully launch on mainnet including CrytptoKitties, Crypto Sportz, Edgeless, Etherbots, Ethercraft, Etheremon, Etheroll, ETHLend, Forkdelta (RIP Etherdelta), 0xBitcoin and Ethlance among others. Check out a whole list on DappRadar and track the progress of some lesser known, smaller projects on StateoftheDApps (Note: I cannot vouch for all of these DApps. There have been and always will be scammers in the crypto space. Please, always do your own research!)

For the rest of March + Q2 (April - June) we are going see the biggest implementation of DApps on the Ethereum mainnet to date. Below I’ve laid out, in alphabetical order and in varying detail, what’s happening between now and the end of Q2 of this year. (I’ve also added some info, where especially relevant, of big stuff coming after Q2). I hope any biases I may have do not come through too much in the writing.

To hammer home on utility once more: One year ago today, the daily transaction count was at 57,000. Yesterday, the network confirmed over 752,000 transactions (a 13x increase) (And remember, ATH in January was 1.349 million txns!) [Source]

Some general Ethereum news to be excited about:

  • Vitalik recently hinted, in a since deleted tweet, that the sharding testnet will be coming online in the near future (I think Q2 isn’t too early a guess).
    • What is sharding? Sharding is where the entire state of the network is split into a bunch of partitions called shards that contain their own independent piece of state and transaction history. In this system, certain nodes would process transactions only for certain shards, allowing the throughput of transactions processed in total across all shards to be much higher than having a single shard do all the work as the mainchain does now. [Source]

  • Alpha Casper FFG testnet has been successfully running since Dec. 31, 2017.
    • What is Casper? Casper FFG aka Vitalik’s Casper is a hybrid POW/POS consensus mechanism. This is the version of Casper that is going to be implemented first. In a Proof of Stake system, validators stake a portion of their Ethers and start validating blocks. Meaning, when they discover a block which they think can be added to the chain, they will validate it by placing a bet on it. [Source]

(To stay up-to-date on Ethereum research development, check out Ethresear.ch)

  • The Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) is March 8-10 in Paris. Talks will focus around “scalability, anonymity, development tools, governance compliance” among other topics.
    • Speakers include representatives from the Ethereum Foundation, Ledger, Metamask, Shapeshift, Oraclize, Uport, Web3Foundation, Melonport, ConsenSys, JP Morgan, Coinbase – Toshi, Parity, SpankChain, FunFair, Aragon, AirSwap, EEA, IExec, Cosmos, OmiseGO, Circle, Gnosis, among others.
    • UPDATE: EthCC was a resounding success! If you missed it or want to re-watch any of the talks, check out this handy thread of videos, painstakingly culled and timestamped by u/alsomahler.
  • The Ethereum Developer Conference (EDCON) is May 3-5 in Toronto. This will be the biggest ETH dev conference since DEVCON 3 last November. The agenda is still being worked out, but speakers include representatives from the Ethereum Foundation, Polkadot, Parity, Plasma, OmiseGO, Cosmos, Tendermint, Giveth, Maker, Gnosis, and many others.
  • The Enterprise Ethereum Foundation (EEF) just keeps growing and growing and growing.

More, because I just can’t stop:

  • MetaMask recently passed 1 million installs!
  • 5.6 billion requests per day for Infura.io (Decentralized web3 infrastructure)
  • 280,000 downloads of TruffleSuit (ETH development framework)
    [Source]

  • ConsenSys has grown to over 600 employees in six major offices located around the world. I personally think ConsenSys is important (and awesome) because they are huge Ethereum evangelists and provide (in)valuable resources to help bring DApps come to life!
    • From their website: “The ConsenSys “hub” coordinates, incubates, accelerates and spawns “spoke” ventures through development, resource sharing, acquisitions, investments and the formation of joint ventures. These spokes benefit from foundational components built by ConsenSys that enable new services and business models to be built on the blockchain.”
    • Several of the projects I listed above are ConSensys formations including AirSwap and MetaMask.

Thanks for reading this far! Hopefully it wasn’t too exhausting of a read.

I am certain I have forgotten some DApps, so please feel free to comment/PM any and all suggestions/corrections to make this list more informative/inclusive/accurate and I will update it.

AMA - James West, Publisher and Founder, and Ben Smith, Lead Writer for Midas Letter respectively.

Our AMA will be live here on Friday, July 13th at 4:30 pm ET.
Midas Letter was founded in 2008 as a newsletter covering mining companies. When the mining industry turned south in a big way in 2012, publisher James West was looking for something better to do. Then along comes the government of Canada with a campaign to legalize and simultaneously corporatize the medical cannabis industry. Since I've occupied virtually every place in the in cannabis industry ecosystem at one point or another in my life, I felt that I was in a great position to reach out to this new crop of CEO's and grow my relationships with them in an effort to recover financially from the shambles that mining had made of my nest egg.
I was in the right place at the right time to be the first to interview virtually every CEO of merit who was building a public company to capitalize on the emerging new segment, and was able to participate alongside.
Today, we run a digital studio in the Toronto Stock Exchange Tower where we interview CEO's of both the oldest and newest cannabis companies in Canada and the United States, analyzing the strategies of across the entire global cannabis value chain in search of those that are most likely to deliver a positive investor outcome.
Ben Smith is a research analyst and capital markets professional with nearly 20 years of experience. His areas of expertise are broad-based, and include extensive knowledge of macro economics, stock/derivative trading, commodity complexes, cryptocurrencies and technical/quant analysis. He also maintains an particular affinity for U.S. politics and the macro-regulatory environment facing Canadian companies. His works have obtained widespread publication in such venues as ZeroHedge and Bloomberg Markets.
Since joining Midas Letter earlier this year, Ben's insightful analysis has quickly become a trusted an popular source of opinion on the meaning behind the press releases of companies, and pointing out potential moves in share price based on technicals.
We are conducting this "AMA" via live web stream on https://MidasLetter.com for the duration, so like, Ask Us Anything!

BTC — BTC has continued to maintain range volatility since yesterday and is still hovering around $9200. In the past 24 hours, the net outflow of BTC capital has exceeded US $30 million, and the outflow of market capital has decreased significantly compared with the previous period. Yesterday, BTC fluctuated a lot. In the afternoon, it pretended to fall below the $9000 level and quickly rebounded to the highest around $9467. Then it rebounded slightly after stepping back on the $9000 support twice in the morning. At present, the short-term market is still in the stage of interval fluctuation, and frequent operation here may be more difficult. It is recommended to take the medium and long-term line as the investment target. The upper resistance level is close to $9600, while the lower resistance level is close to $9000. In terms of operation, it is suggested to control the position for the time being. The risk of further write back cannot be excluded here.
